I’M OFF TO CALIFORNIA

Hi my dear ones! Not sure that I’ve even mentioned properly on the blog that I’m going to California? On Monday I leave the biting cold of Sweden, to embrace the sun and warmth of the US west coast. I think I’ve talked for years now about how much I want to see California, and now it’s finally happening.

Together with Bella, I’ll be backpacking around for two months, traveling along the coast, through the desert, to the forests and of course we’ll be spending some time in the big cities as well.

You know when I was volunteering on the farm in Denmark? We’ll be doing a similar thing in Cali, stopping at different farms and ranches to volunteer. It’s such a great way to travel, since you’re doing some good for other people and saving some money at the same time. You also often get to see places that you wouldn’t have seen otherwise.

I’m all set up with camera, Gopro and iPhone for this trip, so there will be a whole lot of documenting and you’ll have the possibility to follow my journey through my Instagram, Loutube and of course here on the blog. Splendid isn’t it!

Can’t wait to go on some new adventures, meet some new people, and share everything that inspires me on the road.

As my love for denim constantly grows, I got some new goodies from AG Jeans. This is probably one the most ultimate combos I could put together for early spring weather in the city. Don’t you agree?

DORSET, ENGLAND

I started off the year with a lovely trip to England, to visit my family and celebrate my grandmother’s 80th birthday. We drove down to Dorset, a county which is located on the south west coast. It’s definitely one of my favourite parts of England, with its dramatic coastline, long beaches and steep cliffs.

We drove all the way from dad’s place in Bristol and stopped in small, picturesque villages here and there.

Finally we arrived at the little pub/hotel where we were staying over the weekend. Located just a few minutes from the seaside. We gathered with the family, had a lovely dinner at The Pig restaurant, had lots of Gin & Tonics and made sure to catch up a bit with each other.

The next day, we decided to explore the area. Unfortunately the quality of my iPhone 5s images doesn’t show the incredible beauty of this place, but at least it’s a glimpse.

Like father, like daughter.

We had little Penny with us, my aunt’s baby pup. Hard not to be fond of this one.

How magical it was when we finally got high up and were able to see the massive steep cliffs up close. I’ve always found it thrilling to be high up. You become so aware of your life and how quickly it could end. A thought quite fitting to this moody environment.

Good moment to take a selfie. Me and ‘Old Harry’.

Dearest sister, and the ocean.

Then we slowly headed back down the other side, and back to The Pig.

Where we began the celebration of our lovely grandmother’s 80th birthday. As I’ve mentioned before, both her and grandpa are two very impressive beings, still in good health with sharp minds and kind hearts. I really hope that I’ll be the same when I’m 80+.

We enjoyed an incredible lunch at the restaurant, watched grandma while she opened all of her presents, and shared a yummy birthday cake.

The rest of the evening was spent chitchatting and updating each other on our latest news. I don’t see my English side of the family as much as I would like, so it was really good to finally spend some time together.

On the Sunday morning we chilled for a bit at the hotel and checked out their delicious breakfast.

Just before leaving, we made sure to have a look around the hotel and explore their dreamy greenhouse and vegetable garden. Everything at The Pig is locally produced and most things they actually pick right on the spot. You all know how much I love that stuff.

Then we packed our things in the car and headed back towards Bristol, where we spent one last night before flying back to Sweden. On the road, I found these beautiful little friends in the fog.

If you haven’t already seen it, I also made a little short film of our walk along Studland beach and up the hill.

All and all, such a lovely trip and a really good start to the year.

MONDAY GOODIES #3

thecrownnetflix

The Crown

For those of you you, like me, love costume dramas – this is a new good-goodie. It’s amazingly well done and I find it interesting to watch since it actually tells the real story of when Elizabeth became queen of England.

lillejag2-1

3D printing!

Ebba got invited to do a 3D print of herself, how cool is that?! It freaks me out a little how much it actually looks like her. The future is coming! Soon we will all have a mini-me each on our shelves. Also, make sure to check out Ebba’s youtube channel here <3

skam-skadespelare

SKAM

Well, if you’re from Scandinavia you have definitely heard about Skam. If not, you probably live under a rock. However for the rest of you who might not have heard about it, Skam is a Norwegian tv series about a group of teens who go to Highschool in Oslo. The series has blown up in the whole of Scandinavia and is definitely one of the best and most touching things I’ve seen in a long time.

Ps. If you google ‘English subtitles’ you’ll most likely find a page where you can watch it.

Fågelvik Castle

I’m not kidding when I say that this is my ABSOLUTE DREAM HOME. EVER.

A collection of houses on the east coast of Sweden, placed on what almost looks like a little island. This place is literally flawless from every angle. It has everything I would ever ask for in a home. You’ll know what I mean if you browse through the images here.

Just look at the kitchen! And the view! If I would live there, I think I would be happy for the rest of my life.

Postcards

I discovered a lovely new band called Postcards. They haven’t released a lot of songs, but I love what I’ve heard so far. If you like Fleet Foxes, this definitely is the right band for you. Listen to their EP here.

Baby pigs

If you’re feeling a bit low, or your Monday’s just a drag, or if you want a motivation to stop eating meat, or if you just want a reason to smile, a really good way to spend your time is to look at cute baby-pig photos and videos. Works every time.

La La Land

I’m SO EXCITED about this movie. Ryan Gosling? Emma Stone? Musical? That’s pretty much all I need to know.

MY 2016 – FROM JUNE TO DECEMBER

Let’s continue with the second half of my 2016 summary.

JUNE.

One of the highlights of this month was definitely celebrating the Swedish holiday ‘Midsummer’ with my bestie crew. We went to Anna’s summer house in the archipelago of Gothenburg and stayed over for two nights, celebrating ‘the brightest day of the year’.

AUGUST.

August started off with a lovely trip to England to visit my dad’s side of the family. We went to Dorset where my uncle and two of my cousins live. As you can see, it’s an incredibly beautiful place. Shot this image with my iPhone 5s and it almost looks like a painting?

Just as every year, I went to Way Out West festival in Gothenburg. This time me and Ebba went with ASOS which made the event even more exciting.

Enjoyed watching M83, The tallest man on earth, José Gonzales, Zara Larson, Ane Brun, and Sia, amongst other great artists. Got soaking wet in the rain, went to a private gig in a submarine, and danced all night.

I showed him around Gothenburg and had a very special and lovely week. A little tip for you: Don’t make friends who live on the other side of the planet. You miss them too much.

SEPTEMBER.

Here in the North, summer is usually over when September arrives. But this year, we had beautiful weather through the whole month! So I went down to Malmö again to visit my sister.

Visited Anna who’s studying in Lund, just outside of Malmö.

In the evening, me and Anna went to the beach in a little place called Lomma, where we experienced the most intense sunset I’ve ever seen in Sweden. Felt like dream.

NOVEMBER.

Winter came fast, and as always life stands a bit still during this time of the year.

But I managed to do lots of cosy things at home, started my Youtube channel, and started meditating again.

Processed with VSCO with a9 preset

Also did a lovely little trip to a spa with my sister, in the south of Sweden.

DECEMBER.

Processed with VSCO with a9 preset

Last but not least, December arrived and I went to Stockholm for the weekend. Besides that, it really feels like it has been a slow couple of months. As I said before, in this northern part of the world the difference between summer and winter is quite enormous. It’s just something we have to deal with.

Finishing off with this photo of me and three of my best people <3

I’ve noticed that 2016 has been quite a shitty year for people all over the world, and somehow it feels like things can only go upwards during 2017. For all of us. But maybe that’s just wishful thinking.

What I also realised during this year, is that there is quite a big contrast between my inner self and my outer self. I think I actually know who I am deep within, but the big question has been – who I want to be outwards. I still feel very confused and torn in my identity. How other people see me, what image I’m portraying to others.

In my world, 2016 has been one of the most calm and still years in a very long time. But even though I haven’t had a lot of my usual crazy adventures, I’ve found my way back home. Which I find is something incredibly valuable.

You know that saying “Home is where your heart is”? Well, my heart has been in Gothenburg this year, and it will stay there together with the people I love, no matter what 2017 brings me. I know will always have something to come home to.

I would say that this year in outfits represents me quite well. You see some of the minimalist in me, some of the bohemian. The casual, the preppy, the vintage, and sometimes a little sporty. I do enjoy varying my style and adding a little bit of this and that, but in the end it will always be the simplest pieces and the timeless classics that sticks with me.

I’m really looking forward to see what will inspire me next year. At least I know I will continue to support brands with a sustainable and organic focus, and most importantly – vintage and second hand.

So, which one is your favourite?

A CHRISTMAS CARD TO YOU

Processed with VSCO with hb2 preset

Processed with VSCO with a9 preset

Dear readers,

Christmas is here, it seems (how the hell did that happen?). I feel like it was summer just yesterday. Maybe time does actually go faster as you get older.

There are some of you out there who actually follow my blog, read what I write and appreciate what I do, and for that I’m so very thankful.

For some reason, I’ve never had much engagement from the people who follow me. I’m not sure why that is, maybe I haven’t been personal enough. But I’m trying my best.

However, there are a few of you who actually take the time to respond through comments etc. And that to me, is so much more valuable to me than the number of followers I have. I hope you know that. As a creative being, my will to inspire and share is what drives me to continue. Even though it often feels hopeless and like I’m just wasting my time. At those times, your respons is what proves me wrong.

So, thank you for everything.

This Christmas, it’s almost as if things are standing completely still. I’m in a weird place where I know a lot of things will change in my life very soon, and I’m just waiting for it to happen. ‘The calm before the storm’, you could say, but maybe not as dramatic as that sounds.

I will try to be patient and enjoy what is now. Christmas always has potential to be a very loving and cosy holiday, if you make the most of it. So let’s try to do that.

Merry Christmas my dear ones. Hope you’ll all have a lovely end to the year, and stay tuned for more 2016-recaps.

AND of course, if you haven’t already seen it, here’s my latest little video where I’m making my all time favourite skin cream.

MY 2016 – FROM JANUARY TO MAY

13433097_10207908567566007_8560961212464000517_o

2016. A year which I would simply call ‘The year I found my way home’.

Not only because I’ve been living at home in my hometown Gothenburg, but because I actually felt happy about it for the first time ever. As a teenager I always had something against this place, as most people of that age feel about their hometown. But after years of traveling and living in other places, I finally learned to appreciate Gothenburg and realised that it truly is my home.

JANUARY.

IMG_2719

During the winter, I lived for a few months in Malmö in the south of Sweden. This was a very quiet and confusing period, and I honestly didn’t really know what I was doing there. But there were definitely some good moments. Malmö is a very inspiring and exciting city, despite its small size.

FEBRUARY.

So as I mentioned, I decided to move back home to Gothenburg. I needed a safe place more than ever, to feel loved and appreciated (as we all do).

The great thing was that while I had been gone, some of my close friends had gotten to know each other, and a little bestie-crew was formed. As a bonus, I got to know some new people in this group who are now some of my best friends. Lucky me.

As always during these cold and dark months, I longed for spring to come and invested in some new wardrobe pieces.

MARCH.

APRIL.

It started getting slightly warmer and it was possible (not really) to sit outside.

At this time, I had a job that I hated for a short while. But I got through it and that’s the most important thing.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Went to Stockholm for a few days and had the best time catching up with my close friends who live there. Went for brunches and lunches and danced all night at silly techno clubs.

Natalie who lives in Stockholm, came home to Gothenburg for a visit and I was happy to have all of my best girls in one place.

MAY.

IMG_9553

May has always been one of my favourite months, and this year was no exception.

A wave of warmth, sunshine and summer-feelings suddenly appeared from nowhere and we enjoyed it to the fullest. I reached 20 k followers on instagram and did lots of exciting collaborations.

It even got so warm that we could go to the ocean, and I found this darling little strawberry-red bathing suit.

Puh! That’s all from May. As you can see, there is quite a big contrast between winter and summer here in the north. Not only in our surroundings, but in our everyday lives too. We get the energy to actually do things, spend time outside, and time with each other.

So that was the first half of 2016. All and all, what dominated this first half year was the love for friendship. And for that, I’m incredibly thankful.

– Stay tuned for the other half of 2016 –
